The Motability scheme uses your Government funded allowance to lease a powered wheelchair or mobility scooter for a 3 year hire period. At the end of this period, you will get a brand new product. A weekly fee is taken directly from your allowance.

How do I know if I’m eligible?

If you receive any of the following you may be eligible to join:

  • Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component
    of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

You can only have one product on the Motability scheme, for instance, if you already lease a car you can’t lease a scooter or powered wheelchair as well. For more information, visit the Motability website:

What is involved?

With a scooter or powered wheelchair leased from Motability, everything is taken care of for you from insurance to breakdown recovery, repairs and servicing, leaving you free to enjoy the independence of worry free mobility.

Our Motability trained specialists offer free home assessments so you can try scooters or powered wheelchairs to see what would be suitable for you. They will guide you through the scheme and the types of scooters and powered wheelchairs available. Our specialists are on hand to answer any questions you may have.

If you decide to go ahead, we will order the scooter or powered wheelchair and complete all paperwork for you. We will come out to you to deliver the scooter or powered wheelchair and finalise all the details.
