Mr X asked us to consider the options available to allow his wife to get in and out of their home. Mrs X’s mobility had become increasingly limited and she now relied on a manual wheelchair to move around both within their home and outside. However trips out were increasingly a challenge and not without risk when negotiating the 5 steep steps from their front door. The total height difference from drive level to door threshold being around 750mm.
We visited and carried out a survey of the front access, having already established that access from the rear of the property was not an option without either a ramp or a vertical platform lift.
Mr & Mrs x had the advantage of a generous front garden. We carried out a detailed survey and within 24 hours provide Mr & Mrs X with a proposal for a modular ramp proposal including a site sketch and a detailed quote.
Having been restricted to their home for some time Mrs X was keen to proceed as quickly as possible.
7 days later we completed the installation of a modular ramp system within 1 day making access from their front door to driveway possible, easy and risk free. There were no permanent changes to their property, no concreting, the ramp meets building regulations, it is non slip, exceptionally robust and blends well. Under the ramp is a low maintenance surface finished in bark chips and the maintenance requirements of the ramp almost nil – perhaps the occasional wipe down if required, so no ongoing costs.
We were asked my Mr B to visit to look at installation of a stairlift. Our survey visited to discuss Mr B’s requirements and measure/assess the staircase. Mrs B had recently fallen, was in hospital and her mobility had become significantly restricted. Mrs B was pleased to be home from hospital but the stairs were a significant problem. We completed the survey and prepared a quote for Mr & Mrs B. During our visit Mr B asked us to look at an alternative to the bath which Mrs B would no longer be able to use. We surveyed the bathroom, discussed Mrs B’s needs and suggested options. Within 24 hours we prepared proposals, an outline sketch and a full quote. Mr & Mrs B asked us to proceed but as quickly as possible.
Within 2 weeks we completed the installation of the stairlift, completed removal of the bath and installed a level access shower (with grabrails, fold down shower seat and care screens, and provided a small ramping system to enable Mrs B to access the back garden.
