Level Showering

The traditional bathroom can present challenges to many people. A bath might not be practical and safe. An existing raised shower tray/cubicle may have become difficult or dangerous to use or perhaps assistance is required when showering – Level Showering could be the solution you’re looking for.

A level or low access shower could be the solution. A level access shower, is just as it says, level – no steps or thresholds, simply walk or wheel into the showering area. A low access shower is another option standing perhaps 25 – 45mm off the bathroom floor and may even be combined with a shallow ramp for wheeled access.

Often a level/low access shower is combined with half height folding shower screens and/or a shower curtain to create safe convenient showering for both the bather and a carer.

There are two key questions to address when considering level access showering.

What are the needs of the user/carer?

The size, shape, and construction of the existing bathroom or available space?

We can help answer both questions.

In most cases, subject to survey, the level access showering area is created by fitting a shaped “former” into the floor which provides the fall required to ensure water drains away, all covered by non slip flooring. Typically a powerful electric shower with inbuilt thermostatic controls provides the instant hot water.

For level access showering a home survey and a discussion of the users/carers needs is a must.
