Swivel seats and transfer plates making entering and exiting a vehicle easier
Clark and Partners can supply and fit a range of swivel seats depending on the user’s needs and the make and model of their car. They can be fitted into the front or rear of the car. We supply popular chairs to suit different budgets, including the Elap manual swivel seat and BraunAbility’s Turny range. Swivel seats can be fitted that are either manual or electronic.
Many swivel seats can be removed and replaced with the car’s original seat should you choose to sell the vehicle. Many can also be used by other drivers, as if it were a standard car seat. Some simply turn at a 90 degree angle to face the outside of the car so that the legs needn’t be swung around. Some are state of the art and move the entire chair out of the car, allowing the user to manoeuvre to a wheelchair effortlessly.
Our car adaptations vehicle demonstrates both the manual and electronic options. Fitting is carried out at our Orgreave Head Office in Sheffield. So that we can support aftercare, we recommend only having a swivel seat fitted by us if you live in the region of Yorkshire or Derbyshire.
Spotlight On: Turny Evo
The Turny Evo by BraunAbilitycan be positioned in the front or back of a car and can be fitted to either driver or passenger side. It can lower the driver/passenger to the correct height for transfers. To enter the vehicle, the Evo can even raise the driver/passenger up into vehicles that are higher off the ground, like trucks, vans and SUVs. It can move up, down, forward and backward at just the touch of a button. However, there’s also a backup manual system for peace of mind. The whole process takes just 60 seconds. Transfer plates create a smooth transition for those with impaired mobility, in or out of a vehicle by allowing the user to slide across the seat further, until they’re out of it. They’re particularly useful for active wheelchair users. Depending on your requirements and the make & model of your vehicle, we can find the ideal transfer plate for you. We install transfer plates by leading manufacturers such as Jeff Gosling, BraunAbility and BAS.
Transfer plates can be fitted in both the front and second row of a vehicle. Manual models are available, as are electric ones that can raise or lower the user into the car or to the optimum height for a wheelchair transfer. Options are available that store away discreetly at the side of the vehicle’s seat, or plates that can be quickly fitted/removed from their bracket.
We have been adapting customer vehicles for many years and are familiar with the range of available options. Our technicians and surveyors based at our head office in Sheffield are on hand to discuss your options and help find the right solution. We have a fully adapted car with a variety of adaptions inside for you to view and try. As retailers of wheelchairs, powerchairs and mobility scooters, we also have extensive knowledge of how these products work with our equipment hoists.
We are Motability accredited and can therefore fit adaptations to cars for customers on the mobility scheme. New cars arrive to us before being delivered to the customer so we can complete any adaptions before customers receive their new car.
All work is carried out in our workshop based at our Sheffield Head Office based on the Dore House Industrial Estate (27A Orgreave Drive, S13 9NR).
