Our Top Ten Mobility Scooters

With our first bank holiday (two, in fact) out of the way, we’re well in to scooter season. If you’re looking to upgrade, get your first scooter or you’re at the end of your Motability scheme term, we know it can be a bit overwhelming knowing where to start when choosing. We’ve picked our top ten mobility scooters from the three most-popular types: boot scooters, pavement scooters and road scooters.

Best Boot Scooters

Boot scooters- also known as transportable scooters- separate in to around 5 or 6 parts that are easy to lift and fit into the boot of a car. Because of this, it means the battery can be charged anywhere without the whole scooter being present. They’re a great first scooter for when walking longer distances becomes difficult, or for running errands.

Vierra Life

The Vierra LiFe scooter is compact whilst still offering great legroom and comfort. It’s available in 5 vibrant colours with a choice of two battery sizes. The larger battery has a range up to 26 miles, so more than enough for wherever you want to go. The frame is made of lightweight aluminium whilst the lithium ferro-phosphate battery is also ultra lightweight. This makes the scooter both easy to handle and store away. The heaviest part weighs just 10.8kg, one of the lightest options available.

In terms of price, the Vierra is in the middle range and is also available to buy through the Motability scheme.

Mini Comfort

This easy-to-steer, lightweight scooter is designed with convenience in mind—perfect for everyday use and travel. It’s simple to dismantle, separating into five manageable pieces, with the heaviest weighing 19.5 kg. Key features of the Mini Comfort include practical front and tiller basket and puncture-proof tyres that give peace of mind on every journey. Enjoy superior comfort with a captain-style swivel seat that makes side transfers and access to tables effortless. Like the Vierra, it’s also available in 5 different colours.

Reach speeds of up to 4 mph and travel up to 16 miles on a single charge, making these mobility scooters a reliable companion for both short outings and longer days out.

Vogue

The Vogue transportable scooter has been popular with Clark & Partners for several years. It has adjustable suspension on both the front and the back, providing a smoother, and more comfortable ride. It also has great legroom for taller users giving a comfortable ride for all. The secure-grip delta handlebar gives you full control over manoeuvring the scooter. Plus, there is a powerful LED light, ideal for low-light driving conditions.

The Vogue can be disassembled into five parts in just 30 seconds which aids with lifting and ensures a quick and safe lift into and out of your car.

With prices starting at just £20.68 a week with the Motability scheme, the Vogue is great value.

K-Lite Comfort ALi

As we mentioned in our last scooter blog (Scooters For The New Season) the K-Lite Comfort ALi is new for 2025! The Comfort ALi is available in four attractive metallic colours: Metallic Mink, Rapid Green, Mercury Silver, Glossy Black. However, this future favourite is so new, that there aren’t currently any pictures of the full range of colours on offer. This latest product by Kymco was only unveiled at this year’s Naidex (National Accessibility, Inclusion & Disability Expo) conference back in March.

Manufacturers Kymco have taken all the best bits of the K-Lite Comfort- such as single-hand de-docking and all-round suspension. The heaviest part weighs just 9.9kg- 3 kilograms less than the heaviest part on its predecessor.

It’s great value and can also be purchased through the Motability scheme, where you can spread the cost and benefit from insurance and breakdown cover as standard.

Perfect Pavement Scooters

These mobility scooters are for when you need a scooter for more-than-occasional use. Bigger with a more generous seat, they tackle slopes and uneven surfaces better.

Vantage

The Vantage features a heavy-duty motor and a weight capacity of 26 stone. It’s also perfect for tackling hills and slightly rougher terrain. Choose the Lithium Vantage for an even lighter, long-lasting battery.

With fast and easy assembling and disassembling, a Vantage pavement scooter is ideal for those needing to transport the scooter.

Its large spacious foot deck and supportive deluxe adjustable seat ensures a luxurious driving experience. The Vantage includes the choice of either pneumatic comfort tyres or solid puncture-proof tyres, the choice is yours. The additional extras make this scooter truly unique. This includes the powerful LED front light for dusky drives, the drinks holder and the USB charger point for when you forget to charge your phone.

Komfy 4

The Kymco Komfy 4 is one of the most flexible and easy-to-use pavement mobility scooters on the road.

Kymco have designed the Komfy 4 with comfort and user-friendliness in mind. The Delta-steering bar has a soft grip and its shape means it can be held at any handle and even steered with just one hand.  The padded captain’s seat can be reclined and will slide and swivel to allow easy access.

It’s got a sporty look with its alloy-style tyres. Choose from racy colours such as silver, black, red and blue. And because looks aren’t everything, it has front and rear lighting helps maintain peace of mind and added safety when driving in dark conditions.

Sapphire 2

Like the Vantage, the Sapphire 2 is one of the few transportable pavement scooters. Ideal for when you want a scooter more substantial than a boot scooter, but that can still be taken places. Removing the seat, batteries and back wheels, the tiller folds down and the main part of the scooter can be easily stored. Fortunately, it’s one of the lightest scooters in its class. The one-touch Sterling lock system means it’s easy to reassemble securely when you’re ready to go.

The Sterling range is known for its high-quality manufacturing. The scooter has a range up to 18 miles per charge and can accommodate a maximum user weight up to 23 stones. It also offers great leg room for taller users. Buy it online or instore, or book a Motability scheme assessment and spread the cost.

Raving About Road Scooters

Road scooters are mobility scooters that you can use not only on the high street or shopping centre, but also on the open roads. They’re great if your mobility scooter is your main way of getting around. Bigger and more powerful, they can handle even more bumpy or hilly terrain. They’ve also go the extra leg room and range to enjoy driving further.

Our top three are all available to simply purchase, or take advantage of the additional benefits of the Motability scheme, whilst spreading the cost.

S425

Sterling S425 Scooter

The Sterling S425 Road Scooter has everything: affordability, power, style, and practicality. It’s compact yet capable of hitting speeds up to 8mph, making it a strong contender for both road and pavement use. Plus, the 55Ah battery ensures that users can travel up to 26 miles (42 km) on a single charge—great for longer trips!

The wig-wag controls, which can be controlled with a thumb flick, are a great feature for simplifying manoeuvring. And when it comes to safety and visibility, the LED lighting and indicators make driving safer, while also being energy-efficient – LED lights last much longer and consume much less power than traditional bulbs.

S700

The bigger brother of the S425, the S700 really has superior outdoor performance. This mobility scooter is able to tackle gradients greater than 10 degrees, higher kerbs of up to 100mm and greater obstacles. It can reach speed up to 8 miles per hour (12km) and travel up to 28 miles (45km) on a single charge. With its black metallic paint job, the Sterling S700 looks every bit the warrior. Its large pneumatic tyres that have their own individual suspension system, can tackle almost anything whilst maintaining comfort for the driver.

Tailor your experience with a fully-adjustable seat and tiller, which has a delta handle-bar that makes it easier for the driver to use. The scooter can even be controlled with a simple thumb flick thanks to the wig-wag controls.  The bright LED lighting will show the way wherever you’re heading, without the need to worry about changing the bulb. Plus, the LED indicators make driving on the road safe for the driver and other road users.

Komfy 8

It’s pretty simple: the Komfy 8 is the same as the Komfy 4, but can travel at speeds of 8 miles per hour, instead of 4. So, if you use your mobility scooter instead of a car, the Komfy 8 can get you there faster than the Komfy 4, as it can also legally be driven on the road. Other features include LED headlights, indicators and a front and rear bumper.

Comfort is guaranteed wherever you go with its padded seat and headrest. The seat also swivels for ease of sitting and standing. It can even be reclined. The Komfy 8 Road Scooter is available in four colours and includes a handy basket.
