Stairlifts in your homes
This is a staircase we see regularly here in Sheffield and Rotherham. A standard selection of steep and narrow stairs in the middle of the house with walls either side. This one has a small landing space at both the top and bottom of the staircase.
A narrow and steep staircase is a challenge for most people and especially those who are unsteady on their feet, this can present a significant risk of falls and injury.
To help, we installed a straight stairlift with an aluminium rail. There is space to get on the lift at the bottom of the staircase and it swivels at the top allowing the user to turn the seat and exit from the lift safely.
This lift gave confidence back to the client, they could access their upper floor safely.
A straight HomeGlide Extra stairlift after installation.
This client was finding negotiating the stairs challenging. Their family were concerned about doing this safely.
The staircase is another classic we see in properties: straight from top to bottom with a large landing space at the bottom, a top landing going round the corner and a balustrade following the stairs.
This lift has a electronic function which automatically swivels the seat when it reaches the top. The client does not have to manual swing the chair using the handle and body weight to create motion. It also folds up neatly our of the way when it is not in use which in this case was ideal for other family users.
Being fitted to the staircase rather than the walls, it allows for quicker, less-messy installation and removal.
Whilst we have the ability to keep tracks for straight stairlifts in stock for quicker installation, the tubular track for the Flow X is made to order. However, the advantage of this is that the track can be made to fit virtually all staircases.
The stairs at this property- again a common feature in our regions- has a small landing part-way up the staircase, before turning. However, the Flow X is able to follow the staircase all the way to the top.
Not only did the staircase at this customer’s property in Sheffield have a tight turn part way up, it was also very steep and narrow. The Flow X eliminated any existing or future hazards, enabling the customer to continue to access his whole home, safely.
Given the time needed for a property to have a curved stairlift created and installed, doing so before it becomes essential to have one can future-proof the home. It can cut down the time patients need to spend in hospital or in temporary residential care, waiting for their home to be adapted appropriately for them. They’re also handy when short-term illness or injury inhibits a person from climbing the stairs.
